What Type of Writing Style Is the College Essay?

What Type of Writing Style Is the College Essay? If you are an English student looking for tips on writing a college essay, you may be wondering what type of writing style is the college essay. This article looks at writing a college essay in two different styles: classic and contemporary.Historically, the English essay was traditionally written by word processing programs. They were used to compile everything that was needed to present a student's arguments in the format of a paper. College students would spend endless hours writing, re-writing, and editing the essays that they required to be submitted for tests. While the traditional style of the essay is still widely used in many academic settings, the introduction and conclusion are now typically assigned by the instructor or department head. The first style, or the long form style, has been replaced with the shorter form. The introduction is now used as a summary. The author then provides a brief introduction and continues to writ e about their topic in order to address the main idea or the points they wish to make. Finally, the author concludes by discussing what can be done next. In this style, the writer is actually constructing a thesis statement, which will be presented in the conclusion. In today's college and university writing classes, however, students are asked to write from a much younger and current generation. Unlike the classic essay of past generations, today's students are not dependent upon word processors to write their essays. Rather, today's students use Word and Power Point, as well as specialized software like Sony's Word Buddy, to write their essays.Unfortunately, this writing style presents a different set of writing challenges. In this case, the professor has to be more involved with the writer. In addition, because the professor cannot fully control the essay (it is the student's opinion, after all), the essay must be edited in order to appear cohesive and as the professor would expec t.In order to address these challenges, the style is not addressed in one article. Instead, I have broken it down into three different styles. In order to successfully write the college essay, you will need to read this section three times before you write your own essay.Classic style is what most students consider when writing the essay. In this style, the writer utilizes the long essay form. Most importantly, the author presents a coherent argument by discussing their point of view and how it relates to the rest of the writing. The argument is backed up by evidence. The contemporary style of writing the essay is what most professors expect of their students. This style is similar to the classic style in that the essay will be composed using the long form. In this style, the writer presents a short essay. This is more appropriate for those who do not expect to present an extensive argument. Rather, the essay is presented in a very brief way, clearly demonstrating that the writer has understood the student's point of view.
